Why do we listen to songs we didn’t like?

Did you ever find yourself listening to a song that you did not like and kept listening? I have. It seems that even a bad song, one you never really liked, can evoke memories.

These memories, whether good or bad, are chewing gum for our minds. They keep us happy as our associative memory cells bring back images from our youthful days in school, early days at a job, at home with the family and other nostalgic scenarios.

What songs brings back the best memories?

We don’t normally think of the Ballad of Davy Crockett when someone says “oldie song” but for those living in the 50’s, it brings back lots of memories…like the coon-skin cap, my cap gun, “The Wonderful World Of Disney” with Walt Disney as the host, and why didn’t Fess Parker become the star instead of Buddy Ebson.
